The protein in this puzzle is a component of the immune system in ordinary mice, Mus musculus. The protein, a chemokine known as CCL20/MIP-3alpha, or simply CCL20, is also found in humans. CCL20 may play a role in autoimmune diseases such as multiple sclerosis.
