Bruno Kestemont's transport mutant from puzzle 1394.

117: Transport Mutant is a revisiting puzzle, originally presented in 2009 as Puzzle 117: Transport Mutant .

The puzzle protein is a mutant form of rubredoxin, found in the bacterium Clostridium pasteurianum. The protein has four cysteine segments, but these would normally bind an iron atom. The cysteines are not expected to form disulfide bridges.

The iron ligand is not present in Foldit. The recipe Missing Ligand 1.0.1 -- brow42 can be used to band the cysteines as if the iron atom were there. (Try the "4-sided die" option.)

The puzzle has 54 segments with the sequence:

mkkytctvcgyiynpedgdpdngvnpgtdfkdipddwvcplcavgkdqfeevee

This sequence is found in this Protein Data Bank entry:
