Voids represent empty spaces inside a protein, hurting the packing component of the score.

Packing refers to how close together the atoms of a protein. When atoms are too close, clashes occur, but when atoms are too far apart, voids occur.

There's a "packing" score part. The packing subscore of a segment is generally positive.

Recipes using bands are one strategy in Foldit to improve packing.
