Devprev

Please note - "devprev" is a shortening of "developers preview".  It is more likely to be buggy, because it is the test client to shake out the last bugs.  Proceed with caution - and always back up your files before making any changes.

1 - Find the "options.txt" file:

Windows:

If you installed after 8/23/2011:  

They will be in your installation directory (the default is C:\Program Files\Foldit\ or C:\Program Files (x86)\Foldit\) or c:/Foldit

If you installed prior to 8/23/2011:

On Windows XP at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Foldit\

On Windows 7 and Vista at C:\ProgramData\Foldit\

Mac:  Ctrl-click on the app and choose "Show Package Contents, then go to Contents / Resources

Linux:  It is in the Foldit directory

2 - Change "update_group"

Close the client; open the file options.txt with a simple text editor, and change the update_group variable from "main" to "devprev".  Save.

3 - Highly Recommended : Do a second installation so that you have a "Main" client and a "DevPrev" client

Install a second version of foldit for devprev use and move your solutions from one to the other by saving and sharing with yourself.

***To Duplicate Your Cookbook:

Copy the "all.macro" file in the same location as where you found your "options.txt", and install in your second client.
